On this shoot I wanted to try and use fill in flash
indoors as I was really struggling with it outside. As we done our initial
tutorial using the fill in flash indoors I though this might be easier to do as
I could work it out remembering tips from the lesson. This seemed like a
logical way to think in theory but seriously, I'm really struggling to get to
grips with this, I just cant seem to detect what image is good and what
isn't.

- I really like the exposure on this image. I think that the background is still full of detail and you can see what is there but the use of flash on the models face makes her stand out from the background and really defines her as a subject. I like the framing and also the positioning of the model, you actually see a lot more of the background unlike in the other images what seem too plain and boring. The only thing putting me off this shot is the models expression. I think that it kind of looks like a paparazzi shot, like she wasn’t expecting it. I think that this adds to what I personally typically expect to see when I think of using flash.
- I most defiantly don’t like the shadow created by the models head on the white panel in the background, and also you can see a white flare were the flash is gone off. This is something I really didn’t want to capture and will defiantly not be a final shot. As well as this its too dark, the colour really just doesn’t seem right in this image. Do however like expression of the model. It’s a lot softer than the first image.
- Good crop of the image, get a lot more of the model in the shot. Really like the flash and how it lights the models face think it gives her a glow what is then enhanced by her expression. However the background is off putting as the window frames aren’t straight.
- / 5. I think that the lighting on these images is very similar and the use of the flash is soft and subtle what is what I am aiming for. I want to take this and use it in my next shoot. These images however are really no good. The background is all wonky and really distracts me. It’s actually irritating the life out of me as I type this. Personally think it was a bad place to choose to shoot
I think that the outcome of this shoot is a step in the right direction. Hopefully with a bit more practice I will be able to get an image that I am happy enough with to send to print.
