Colour Portraits - Shoot 5

The shoots previously to this I had the time and means of being able to do them all in one day. This was really convenient as it meant that I didn’t have to change the lighting or camera settings. However this was a new day and I had to get everything set back up again so it took a little while to try and get the lighting to match that of the previous shoots. However I think that I have managed to do it pretty well after some messing about. I think that this was due to taking notes and pictures of the set up of the lighting and also the positioning of the reflector boards and camera.

This was one of the first images that I did and I was still trying to get the lighting and the exposure right. So I wasn’t really thinking about the framing of the image or also the models expression. I do however like the models expression. I think that the lighting on her face might be a bit too harsh on one side compared to the other but this would never be a final image anyway because of the composition so I don’t think that it’s a problem that I need to be worrying about. And also it was one of the beginning shots so all these factors were reconsidered and changed later in the shoot.

(The below images I accidently changed the colour of them by changing the white balance. This has since been changed back to normal so my final image wont have a green tint to it.)

I think that in this image the model has a rather negative expression on her face. She looks fed up and this is defiantly not what I am wanting. Also her hair is shaved underneath (like an undercut) I want to try and get this and maybe show it slightly in the image so I think a pose looking to the side would be more suited to this particular model. I like the green background as I think that it suits her skin tone and colour, obviously not without the white balance changed as it makes her look sick. The lighting is getting better in this image but I think that the reflector needs to be closer to make the other side of the models face have more detail and less darker shadows.

I was trying to get variation in the models looks and the direction that she was looking in. I don’t like this one I wanted her to look slightly up but my direction wasn’t as clear as I wanted and I really struggled to get across what I wanted. So this is my fault that she’s literally looking directly up. The lightings is much better though I personally think and is getting closer to that of the shots that I have done previously.

I think that this image is more along the lines that I want to go for as you can see more of the hair and how its styled. I also like this because the light is hitting the models face directly so I don’t have to worry about trying to reflect light into the darker areas on the models face. The catch light in the eye is also really bright making them really bright. What I also like about this is the stunningly beautiful colour of the models eyes. The green coloured background enhances the models eye colour. I would have to reshoot this though as I don’t want the models body turned as much and also I think that my composition of the image is off. The model needs to be more centered.
