"Expectations are a dangerous thing. You pre-judge what you
don’t know, seen through rose tinted glasses often building a magical world
that can only be shattered by reality. Comparing a vision created by books and
magazines to distort the truth. But expectations being disappointed isn't always a bad thing. Learn to see, find the beauty in mess. Look past the dirt,
the dust and see the beauty not for what you expect but for what it is. Focus
on the new smells and sounds and embrace the culture! After all Goa is a place
of untouched culture, uneven dust roads and unpainted walls, my expectations
were shattered but I learned to find the beauty not in the place itself, but
the people I encountered. They are the true Goa, they are the heart of India."
For me an introduction was important. I wanted to put my images
in perspective, and show that it may not have been what I was expecting but I found
a solution and my images reflect that. I think that this really helps my book
and I hope that people read it before jumping in and looking as I’m sure they
will be expecting bright colour and over the top patterns.
