Blurb

When creating my book on Blurb book smart they have a number of tools that help to make sure that you create the best book that you can. I decided to take advantage of this and use them to make sure that I didn't make a costly mistake. The first of these was the ‘trim guidelines’ what added a pink boarder around your page as well as a red dotted line that indicated where the page is in jeopardy of being cut off. This was really important to notice and keep in mind. I really didn't want any important aspects of my image to be cut off, possibly meaning loosing detail from the image. So when placing my images I was careful to make sure that all the detail and information that I wanted was well inside of these lines.

Because I already created all my layouts on Photoshop this process was made so much easier and less time consuming. Instead of creating individual image boxes I had already created the layout. This meant that all I had to do was create a full image page and simply insert the image that I had framed on Photoshop onto the page on my blurb book smart.

Although I chose to create my layouts on Photoshop there were options to choose to layout your page. This was an option that I chose to use for my introduction page and also my end page. These were handy to have available.

Adding images to my book was a simple process. After saving the Photoshop document that had been framed how I wanted and saved at a high resolution I had a few simple steps to carry out before my book was complete.

Click add pages > then chose the page from my documents

< This would then result in the images that I had selected being collected in a library down the side of my document.

From this point I could then look at the images and begin to put them into order and play around with what pages worked well together. This was the most enjoyable part of creating my book as it gave me the freedom to play about with arrangements and how I wanted my book to look. It was simple and really quick to do.

When I decided what image I wanted on what page I clicked the button labelled ‘auto flow’ and it uploaded the image onto the next page.

Below shows how the book was laid out over the pages. From this I could preview my book and see what the end product would look like. And also upload it to the blurb website were from there I could then go on to order my book for print.

I found this process to be so straight forward and it was really exciting and fun to create my book. I thought that it would be stressful but I really ran into few troubles creating a book in this way.
