Lifes a Beach

After a while of going to the beach, camera less, I began to see that I was missing a lot of great photo opportunities. So when I could, in other words days that I could actually function in the heat, I took my camera down and photographed the people who I spent my days with in the shack that I would go to. Also what I seen when I went on mine and my dad’s daily beach walk with my dad.

When I sat and watched these kids playing on this upturned boat I knew that I needed to capture the moment. But I got so much more of a better photograph than I hoped for.  Something that I noticed and witnessed was that the kids in Goa are so loving, friendly and kind to one another - You buy a child who is begging on the beach a bottle of coke and he will go and find an empty plastic bottle so he can half it with his friend who is begging further up the beach – they don’t have much but they insist on sharing what they do. This makes me so happy and really rather emotional to see. This is why I really love this image. It expresses that love and kindness that they have for one another in such a sweet moment.

This is such a regular thing to see on the beaches and pretty much all over. It still makes me laugh how causal everyone is about stopping to let a cow walk past as your walking to the sea. The depth of field in this image was used to really just focus in on one cow and make it the subject of the image. The sun was going down as well so I really like the lighting and the colours that it captures on the cow and also the cows in the background too. The framing is a happy accident, I really like how the head is in the center and the direction it is looking in leads you across the image. I think if the whole cow was in the frame it would have been slightly cheesy.

I think this is so comical. I mean how are you supposed to see if anyone is in need of help with all that covering your face! What I like about this is the colours, the bright red really stands out against the beige tones of the sand and hut that covers the lifeguard. I also like the framing how he is central to the image.
