Me as the Traveler

Some of the advice that I got from Jamie when going on my journey was to make images that showed I was the traveler. He suggested doing this by taking images out of car windows etc. this seemed easy enough right? WRONG! If it wasn't horrendous roads that weren't even and caused whiplash every time you needed to go somewhere it was the taxi strikes meaning I wasn't in a car for days at a time. It just seemed impossible. Also the simple task of holding my camera to my eye to see the image and frame was impossible. I would end up with bruises just trying to do this simple task. However I managed to get a hand full of images that hopefully I may be able to use in my book.

The purpose behind these images was to capture the tuk-tuk driver, not so much the outside. I think that this depicts me as the traveller. Also what I like about this image is the way that the light from outside, although minimal, it really lights the image up and gives shade and light to the driver rather than making him a silhouette (this is what I thought was going to happen). I will defiantly be using one of these images in my book as it becomes a journey rather than a series of images. This shows how I traveled from place to place.

This image was taking out the window of a taxi on the way to a night market, and I really like it. I had to use flash to capture the image what lit up the inside of the taxi. But what I like most about this image is the outside, how bright it is and the fact that because the sun is going down it’s created like a golden tone to the outside. I also like how the window frames the man at work. It’s like an image within an image.

When going on a trip to see a waterfall I decided to try and take images on the journey. However it was virtually impossible due to the uneven roads and rocks that we had to travel over. These 2 are really the only images I could capture. I don’t think they are as good as other ‘me as the traveller’ images, I think there good to inform but not for my book as part of this project.
