I have really been struggling to find a still life photography book so whoever took this back to the library thanks! There is a great range of still life shots in this book. Shows what a range still life can be. Also give me some ideas of what i might be able to try.
Josef Sudek - Late Roses , 1959 |
I think that this image is perfect. I really like the steam on the window and the lines created by the rain running down. The way the light just hits the window sill and subtly highlights the roses really makes the image have a soft feel, its very peaceful. The sepia tone adds a old feel to the image. I just think that its a really beautiful image. It makes me want to use flowers.
Frederick Sommer - Beato Saltador Alegre , 1950 |
This is really weird. I really thought that it was a real dear. But then when i looked closer i could see that the legs have broke off. That then makes me question the size of the object and how far away from it the photographer is, i just find it really confusing. I do like the framing of the image and the composition the way that the deer isn't in the centre of the image. like the negative space around it.
Paul Wolff & Alfred Tritschler - Shirt Collars , 1930 |
Proves to me that anything can be a still life shot. I would never think of taking a picture of a fake collar. The positioning of them makes it clear that the shot is set up or made to look like that, it looks very staged. I do like how you can see right down to the bottom of the collars.
