Shoot 8

So got to this stage and realise I hadn’t done a close up of my granddad, this was because when I went to do it I broke the camera lens. So didn’t get round to shooting. Starting running out of time so I really had to squeeze this one in. I had all the rest of the shoots I had to do ready to go so on a free afternoon I ran and quickly did this.

A problem I had with this is trying to get really nice catch lights in my subjects eyes. He has really set back eyes (something that me and my dad also have) and it was really hard to get the detail in them

This was a shot I tried to take with an extension tube, and this is the moment I broke the camera!! I hate this image for so many reasons, its not exposed correctly, its extremely out of focus. And I don’t like the closeness of the model. Its also really grey, no variation in tone.

This image shows what I mean about the eyes, especially when my granddad laughs or smiles you loose his eyes all together. So for this reason neither of these images would be chosen for my final prints, its just not the look I wanted from the image. Although it does show really nice detail in his other features, and I especially like the image where I have gotten closer to the subject.

This image I this is strong and I am happy with the way that he his looking straight down the camera lens. I am happy with the crop and positioning of the model. Would have rather his body be straight on though, this is something I have only just realised. It looks weird that he’s turned slightly, almost like a school photograph.

This is by far my favourite image from this shoot, and most defiantly my final image because I love the detail in his eyes, I know he’s looking up and this is something I didn’t really want but after looking at all the images it’s the only one with the kind of detail in the eyes that I was wanting. The composition of the image is also really what I wanted. I like that its got head and shoulders and think it works well with the other close images that I have produced so far.
