The Photo Book

Below are just some pictures that i found in 'The Photo Book' that i liked and wanted to incorporate into my research.

Eva Besnyo - Starnberger Street
i like this one because of the high angle view. i think that i would feel more confident taking pictures of the street like this because i wouldnt have the added pressure of worrying what people would say. they wouldnt see me. i also like how you can get a clear view of the shadows created by the people/objects. i like the detail that this creates.

Robert Frank - Parade, Hoboken, New Jersey
Lady in the window is blocked out by the flag. This is a good use of the prop in the image. Makes you think that something is going on outside that they are interested in, yet they are not the main focus of the image. its more about what is going on outside. This is were the title is important because this is saying what is happening out side with out you actually seeing it.

Helen Levitt - New York
I really like old images of kids having fun and playing out side. I don't think that there is enough of this now. World isn't as safe as it used to be so i think images like this should be treasured and remembered as there wont be many more like this of this generation

Graham Smith - 'The Zetland' Middlesbrough
Doesn't have anything to do with street photography but you gotta love the Zetland. Still the same as it was back in the day. Full of wierd characters and sleezy men!

Thomas Struth - Unconscious Places
Like the lines created by the telephone wires. Gives a geometric feel to the image along with the windows and balconies etc. This is focusing more around the buildings in the street rather than people. I like the peaceful nature of the shot.
